Staffing at Chestnut Tree
We work within the guidelines of safer recruitment and aim to recruit a mixed age/sex team of staff to care for your children, in order to provide a balanced environment. Our staff are recruited not only for their qualifications, professionalism and experience, but also for their personal qualities. We look for experience, maturity and a genuine insight and respect for the needs of all children. We are also a training and work experience nursery for local schools, colleges and training organisations. All our staff are DBS checked, and at least two previous employment references are taken and are subject to regular supervisions. The required staff ratios are as follows:

| 2-3 | 1 member of staff to 4 children |
| 3-5 | 1 member of staff to 8 children |
All our regular staff are fully trained in first aid for young children. We have an active policy in supporting our staff with ongoing training in up-to-date practices in childcare, and they have regular formal supervisions. We have an in-house training day annually on the Tuesday following the August Bank Holiday.
